The Spit Game Collective burst onto the film scene in Summer 2023 with our “We Move”/BBC Children in Need-funded project, MONIQUE. This groundbreaking work delves into the challenges young men face in relationships, tackling themes of misogyny, sexual assault, and abuse. We have now adapted it into the mini-series WHEN BOYS DON’T TALK ABOUT SEX, pushing boundaries and sparking essential conversations.

Following this, we unveiled DEAD FUN in October 2024, a compelling piece just shy of an hour. This film confronts serious youth violence, violence against women, the desensitization to Black-on-Black crime, and young male mental health. It’s a raw portrayal of pressing issues, delivered with unflinching honesty.

Our repertoire of shorts further showcases our commitment to storytelling that matters:

• HELP! I THINK MY TEACHER IS RACIST: An unfiltered look at racism within the education system.

• THE NUDES: A candid exploration of consent in the digital age, focusing on the non-consensual sharing of intimate images.

• JUST A JOKE: A critique of humor ethics and power dynamics in professional settings.

• THE THINGS I’LL DO TO BE PRESIDENT: An examination of political conspiracy theories and their online proliferation.

Notably, HELP! and THE NUDES have earned selections at prestigious BAFTA-qualifying festivals, standing shoulder to shoulder with productions backed by industry giants like Film4, the BFI, NFTS, and Steve McQueen’s Lammas Park. Our films, crafted on modest budgets by a youth-led team, have proven that passion and perspective can rival any big-budget production.

At The Spit Game, we delve into narratives that resonate with young Black individuals navigating life in London today. Our pride lies in our youthful team, our ability to defy expectations, and our unwavering focus on social justice. With young talents leading every department, we showcase the strength and promise of Black cultures, stories, and artistry.
